About Olivia

Hi there, welcome to Object Bale!

Bale: A large bundle of raw or finished material tightly bound with cord or wire.

Like the title of this blog suggests, some of the posts here are more polished than others. Some are precious to me, well researched and thought through, others just a bunch of (probably ill-considered) words on something that took my fancy.

I am an English graduate with a passion for history so expect to find posts on history, poetry, art, material culture, and more. For a taster see my post on Women and Gin in the Eighteenth Century. I am also trying to read loads more ‘canonical’ literature that I’ve somehow avoid thus far (see my post on Hawthorn’s The Scarlet Letter). I’m currently doing a Masters in Eighteenth Century Studies.

On a side note I have another blog called Olivia Reads the Bible which is pretty self-explanatory!

If you stop by, I hope you enjoy what you read, feel free to leave a comment and follow for more!
